The short 35 minute commute from Minneapolis, or even closer 25 minutes from St. Paul, leaves more time for relaxing with less time driving. Being in Western Wisconsin along the St Croix River Valley gives our guests the unique opportunity to explore BOTH Minnesota and Wisconsin. We are surrounded by state parks which are excellent for hiking, bird watching, nature exploration, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and more... St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park - Minnesota, Carpenter St. Croix Nature Center - Minnesota and Kinnickinnic State Park - Wisconsin are less than 10 miles away and provide many trails and picnicking areas. Ten minutes to the north you will also find Clifton Highland Golf Course, a Wisconsin golfing pleasure.
If exploring local history is your gig, we are in the midst of many towns that are rich with a past! You can start right here is Prescott, WI. After exploring our B&B's stomping ground, you can move south along the Wisconsin side of the beautiful Mississippi River , cross the bridge and enter Red Wing, Minnesota. Stop for lunch, wander the streets and take in the sites. While there, you can try your luck at Treasure Island Casino. This NON-SMOKING casino offers Black-Jack tables, slot machines and nightly concerts. We also recommend a visit to Hastings and their historic downtown. 64 buildings there are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Our inn is only 11 miles from the Afton Alps resort in Minnesota. The resort offers year 'round fun and activities. In the winter months enjoy downhill skiing and tubing. Golf (a beautiful 18 hole course) and mountain biking are offered in mild weather months.
Ever tried your hand at fishing on a river? Both the St Croix and Mississippi Rivers have awesome fishing in all seasons. Walleye, Muskie and Small Mouth Bass, just to name a few, are a popular catch of the day. There is ice fishing in the winter and excellent fly fishing in the warmer months.
Prescott is truly a fantastic place for bird watching and is a destination for bird watchers from all over the world.
Keep an eye out for the Eagles! March is acclaimed to be the best month for watching these amazing creatures in their natural habitat. Any given day when we walk down along the river, we are seeing many of these beautiful birds. Bring your binoculars and cameras, the view is spectacular!
